Opening the workshop was master class on FAC-1 which was delivered by Darya Bahram, one of the developers of FAC-1 and Secretary General of the Association of Consultant Architects and Research Associate at Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution (the United Kingdom). Boyana Milcheva, a lawyer, presented Bulgarian experience of FAC-1 adaptation and application. FIDIC accredited trainer Adriana Spassova then delivered a module on practical applications of FIDIC contracts, focusing on differences between FIDIC contract forms of 1999 and of 2017.
Among the workshop attendees were the representatives of engineering, construction and consulting companies and professional organizations of both Bulgaria and Russia. A welcome reception organized for the participants presented a great networking opportunity.
A friendly environment of the workshop fostered fruitful discussions based on real life cases. The course participants noted its high practical value. At the end of the training, all the participants received certificates from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) with unique numbers. The certificates attest to the participants’ knowledge of the use of FIDIC contract forms and are recognized internationally.
FIDIC - Federation Internationale des Ingenieurs Conseils - International Federation of Consulting Engineers – was found in 1913, and is now recognized as one of the leading authorities in engineering consulting and contracting capital construction projects. FIDIC members are national associations: a total of 100 associations in 97 countries of the world. Examples of FIDIC emeber-associations are American Council of Engineering Companies in the USA, Consult Australia in Australia, 3 associations in China. NACEC is the official representative of FIDIC in Russia.
FIDIC Contract Forms (Books) are internationally recognized standard of contracting. They contain standard forms of contracts for types of works and services, and provide guidelines for drawing up the terms of a contract specific to the project.
